"I'm writing [to] you as a concerned Anguillian. There is an
'individual' that resides at 'Anguilla' and
the conditions of the[ir] yard is a sore
to the eyesight. We
have called health [Environmental Health] on numerous occasions and nothing is being
done to rectify the problem. The yard is a breeding ground
for rodents and other pests. This e-mail has photos attached
showing exactly what I am talking about."
At www.anguillanews.com we received the above email on
March 31, 2008 and was so concerned with the situation, that
we communicated directly with the appropriate department. We
have subsequently learnt that the situation was remedied on
Monday April 7 when the site was cleared by appropriate Authourities and the
occupant was relocated. The site was located between
business establishments in a well trafficked area and
according to the letter writer "the poor conditions had existed
for about a year".
The photos below show the conditions of the yard and
images from the inside prior to it being cleared.
We have reduced the size of the photos
because our
intention is not to sensationalize nor provide images for
redistribution. The issue is significant and is being
highlighted due to the concerns being expressed to us,
about recent changes-accompanying our unprecedented levels
of immigration, that is being observed in the island's social
demography
