January 24, 2008, BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CUOPM): St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas on Wednesday informed meetings of the High Command and the rank and file of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force that he will recommend to the Police Service Commission that Austin Williams be appointed the new Commissioner of Police.

The new Deputy Commissioner of Police will be Stafford Liburd and the two Assistant Commissioners, Joseph Liburd and Joseph Richardson.

Williams will assume the post early next month when the current Commissioner of Police, Robert Jeffers demits office following pre-retirement leave. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Meredith Charles is also retiring.
