2008: One day after the disgraced US sprinter Marion
Jones was sentenced to six months
in prison for lying to US federal investigators about her
illegal use of performance enhancement drugs during her now
debunked career, we report that Jamaican track stars
Veronica Campbell-Brown and Maurice Smith, will be
recognised for their outstanding performances in sports for
2007.
According to JIS release on Friday, Olympic and World
Track & Field Championship gold medalist Veronica
Campbell-Brown and World Championships silver medalist
Maurice Smith, both of Jamaica, head a list of Jamaican and
international personalities who will be recognised for their
outstanding performances in sports for 2007 at a luncheon
ceremony in New York on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
Campbell-Brown (Sprints & Relay) and Smith (Decathlon), who

year’s World Championships in Track & Field Athletics in
Osaka, Japan, will be presented with the International
