police officers and 24 defense force officers, some armed
with heavy weapons, were sent to the island in an effort to
restore order.
Eye-witnesses say, the officer shot the handcuffed victim
in the back of his head, leaving him with a gaping hole
through his face as the bullet exited through his eye. At
least one witness say the officer had been drinking prior to
the sad occurrence.
Police said in an interview on the national news agency,
ZNS, that the shooting occurred during an attempt by
officers to subdue the individual during an arrest.
