December 2, 2007: Ms
Trinidad and Tobago, 21-year-old, Valene Maharaj proved to
be the Queen of the Caribbean after finishing 3rd runner-up
at the Miss World 2007 competition. This, the 57th Miss
World final, was held at the Beauty Crown Theatre in Sanya,
Hainan Province, China on Saturday.
The coveted title went to Miss People's Republic of China
who won from amongst a highly competitive field of 106 young
women. First runner-up went to Angola and the second
runner-up to Miss Mexico.
The 16 finalists included other Eastern Caribbean
contestants from
Grenada,
Jamaica and
Puerto Rico. The complete list included Angola,
Australia, China, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada,
Ghana, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mexico, Puerto Rico,
Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, USA and Venezuela. |
