Professor and Fashion Designer brutally murdered in separate incidents in Nassau.

November 19, 2007: Two of the latest murders in the Nassau Bahamas are troubling police by the identity of the victims and gruesome nature of the crimes which have brought the record homicide toll in the country to 68 officially though suspicious deaths not yet classified could see it raised to 70.

37-year-old fashion designer Harl Taylor was brutally stabbed to death in his home over the weekend. Police believed the attacker was someone he knew as there was no sign of forced entry. His decaying body was found on Sunday morning by a male friend. Taylor's much-sought-after hand-woven straw bags, have reportedly been purchased by celebrities such as Elle McPherson and Oprah Winfrey, since they hit the fashion scene in 1999.(External Link)

Taylor lived a only a short distance from, Dr. Thaddeus McDonald, Dean of Social and Educational Studies of the College of the Bahamas, who was found beaten to death in his  home on Friday afternoon. According to investigators, they have not dismissed the possibility of a link in the murders as both victims were single professional men who suffered brutal deaths at the hands of persons believed to be close to them.

The Bahamas has some 200 people who have been expelled from the United States for violent crimes and over 114 persons are now on bail for murder.
