Counterpart International, which began producing CMEx in 2001, asserted that reporters, editors, young people and development specialists will interact over four days with representatives of the hospitality sector, civil society and government to explore the theme "Caribbean Tourism: Another Level of Innovation." Key is examining how tourism policies can be aimed at improving the lives of Caribbean people.

The environment, Caribbean marketing, public relations, tourism linkages, economic development, and the concerns of the Caribbean's youth will be highlighted during the conference which includes a practical look at what Destination St. Lucia is doing to foster sustainable tourism development.

"We welcome the opportunity to once again host Counterpart International and CMEx in St. Lucia," said Director of Tourism Maria Fowell. "Our entire tourism industry is going through a tremendous revitalisation and we look forward to highlighting our plans and some of our achievements when CMEx delegates visit the country," she added.

Fowell thanked members of the private sector for expressing their support of the December talks.

"We also would like to thank the numerous journalists and young people who applied for fellowships to attend CMEx," said LeLaulu, who said his organisation will be contacting the successful applicants in the days ahead.
