| October 24,
2007: A magistrate in Jamaica issued a warrant Tuesday,
for the immediate arrest of reggae/dancehall megastar, Moses
Davis better known as Beenie Man. The performer
stands accused of owing the revenue department J$ 47-million
(US$661,971) and was scheduled to appear in court to answer
the charges on October 23. The warrant was issued after he
failed to show up. Resident Magistrate Owen Parkin who
presided over the case, said he was surprised that Davis
failed to appear in court although the case has been
publicised extensively in the media.
In an initial appearance last month, Davies claimed that his
former management company Shocking Vibes was responsible for
paying all his taxes. |
