October 18,
2007: Police in the Bahamas report that a 38-year-old
father of three was accosted by three armed men demanding
cash around 4:30am outside his home in the Fox Hill area of
Nassau on Wednesday morning.
The armed men demanded cash and forced him into his house
where according to Chief Superintendent of the
Royal Bahamas Police, Hulan Hanna, "It is believed that the
individual was able to break free from these persons and he
ran outside. While running out of the house suspects opened
fired on the gentleman and hit him with a single shot to the
back. He continued running and he eventually collapsed
across the street just a few yards away from where he
lived."
The man was described as a peace-loving family man, the
father of children ages 16, 8 and 6.
The senseless murder brought the toll in the Bahamas to
60, equaling the 2006 rate.
Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest revealed an
even more perplexing fact, that 10 of the murder suspects
charged this year in the country, were previously charged
with murder. |
