28, 2007: St. Vincent & The Grenadines, an Eastern Caribbean Windward Island of 118,149
people (July 2007 est.) registered its 28th homicide on
Saturday 22, September when a 40 year old father of seven (Ricardo Kelly) was
gunned down less than 30 minutes after confirming plans, by telephone, to go out
with his Vincentian fiancée, Amy McKenzie. The Trinidadian native was shockingly
killed by a shot directly to the head in the typically serene village of Clare
Valley.
“He was very nice. He was the best thing that ever happened to me. It aint have
anything that trouble him,” declared his grieving fiancée,
In speaking with the media one week earlier, Commissioner
of Police Keith Miller had expressed disgust with the number
of murders so far for 2007 and additionally with the 10
(37%) that had remained unsolved. To date police has not
charged anyone with the death of the latest victim though
they said were being assisted with their investigations by
one man. |
