BET J
CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF SIR JOHN COMPTON, THE LATE PRIME
MINISTER OF ST. LUCIA |
NEW YORK (September 21, 2007) – This Saturday, BET J,
a part of BET Digital Networks, will pay tribute to the life
and legacy of St. Lucia's late Prime Minister, Sir John
Compton who died in Castries this month at the age of 82.
Cybelle Brown, BET J's Vice President of Sales and Business
Development, and also a native of the Eastern Caribbean
nation, said the team at BET Networks mourns the loss of one
of the Caribbean's heroes who recently returned to active
politics, and led the United Workers Party to a historic
election victory last December.
"But Sir John was more than a politician, he was the 'Father
of our nation' and a man who served the people of St. Lucia
and the Caribbean with humility," Brown said. |

"We will always remember Sir John as a visionary. A man who
was loved and embraced not only by all St. Lucians, but by
respected leaders across the globe. His simplicity, charm,
and humble nature are what we will remember him for the

"His passing represents the end of an era of outstanding
Caribbean statesmen, and we who remain are inspired by his
commitment to service. He was a great man who will be
missed," she continued.
Extending condolences on behalf of BET Networks to the
people of St. Lucia, Sir John's wife Lady Janice, and his
