Golding
takes office in Jamaica as the country's
8th Prime Minister |

2007: Bruce Golding became the eighth Jamaican prime
minister on Tuesday, in a lavish ceremony on Tuesday at
which thousands of guests including Caribbean leaders were
present.
CARICOM chair and Barbadian Head of Government Owen Arthur
and his peers Patrick Manning (Trinidad and Tobago) and
Michael Misick(Turks and Caicos), as well as CARICOM General
Secretary Edwin Carrington were in Kingston to attend the
ceremony.
In his address which lasted about half-an-hour Mr. Golding
pointed to several key priorities for his administration,
including crime reduction, transparency and accountability
in Government.
Prime Minister Golding also encouraged former Prime Minister
Portia Simpson-Miller to join him in the effort. |
