 Rescue effort turns to recovery in Barbados.
August 28, 2007: Officials in Barbados has made the hard decision to end rescue efforts for five members of a family buried in a collapsed building since early Sunday morning.

Reports from witnesses confirm Donavere was alive and talking immediately after the collapse - had an injured leg.

The decision was taken after specially trained dogs from the Miami Dade Police Department detected signs of deceased bodies in the rubble but failed to detect any signs of life.

“We have had to take the serious decisions to move into recovery mode … recovery mode as you know is when you move into the mode of removing the bodies, even though we are still having the an eye to the possibility of some survivors,” said Minister of Home Affairs Dale Marshall
