Ralph O'Neal sworn in as BVI first
Premier - former government swept from office. |
August 27, 2007: The five
member team of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) spent
its first day in office on Friday August 24, one day
after being sworn in as the new government of the British
Virgin Islands (BVI). Under the British territory's new
constitution, party leader Mr. Ralph O'Neal became the
first Premier of the BVI , a post previously titled
Chief Minister.
The VIP swept the National Democratic Party of Dr. Orlando
Smith from office in elections on Monday August 20.
