A Bahamian
promoter has been arrested, charged and remanded to prison
for armed robbery and causing harm. |
It is alleged that
Trevor Alexander Davis (40) owner of Alpha Sounds ,
along with others, intentionally and unlawfully caused harm
to reggae DJ Leshorn "Chuck Fenda" Whitehead on Monday, Aug.
20. Whitehead was in Nassau for a scheduled Buju
Banton concert that Davis was promoting however after
arriving on island a dispute between the two led to
Whitehead not performing at the concert.
It was also alleged in court that Davis, armed with a
handgun, and others robbed Whitehead of a platinum chain,
valued at $3,000; a Movado watch, valued at $1,000; and $300
in cash.
Davis, a well-known concert promoter in Nassau, appeared
before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez. Sergeant Alexander
Bannister prosecuted the matter. He was not required to
enter a plea to the charges. A preliminary inquiry will be
held to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to
transfer the matter to the Supreme Court for a jury trial. |

Davis is expected
to return to court Aug. 30.
According to Davis' website — alphasounds.net, Davis started
Alpha sound systems with a group of childhood friends in
1991 after a trip to Jamaica to "collect music and dub
plates."
Davis at one time served as booking manager for "Poison
Dart," a Florida group he met while attending school in
Tampa, according to the website. Davis returned to Nassau in
1999 and opened the record store Alpha Sound Station on East
Street and Ross Corner. Aside from selling music, the store
caters to the Rasta community, selling books on the
religion, T-shirts and Rastafarian trinkets, according to
the website. |
