According to the Express: "During the last two months
there were 15 suspected cases of leptospirosis at the San
Fernando General Hospital, an official at the institution
said.
Up to yesterday four people were being treated at the
hospital for the disease. One who was admitted on Tuesday is
listed as a confirmed case.
Over the past two years 11 deaths were caused by
leptospirosis with 25 confirmed cases while the number of
cases of suspected dengue was more than 100.
Health Minister John Rahael said yesterday that the Ministry
has the facilities to deal with any outbreak of these
diseases."
