August 17, 2007:
The 200th murder victim in Trinidad for 2007, is a
reputed drug dealer, Lilly Lane, in her 70's who was
shot dead when the car she was driving came under fire from
four men who over took her. She was hit four times about her
body and died on the spot.
Police describe elderly Lane as no stranger to the
Magistrate's Court and said that her home was raided several
times over the past decade.
Despite the raids and reputation Lane
was never convicted on any charge.
Over this same period in 2006,
Trinidad's murder rate was closing in on 250 homicides. |
