Nationals Back In Guadeloupe After Deportation for
Protesting In Dominica |
| July 9, 2007:
Five female Guadeloupe nationals were deported from
Dominica on Friday July 6th after engaging in protest
against the Peoples Republic of China. According to
Dominican police, the five were asked to leave for what were
described as a violation of their immigration status. The
police public relations officer went on to say that
the women had been in engaged in some form of protest
against the People's Republic of China ever since their
arrival on the island. |

Roseau Dominica is
home to an Embassy of the People's Republic of China. In
addition Dominica is one of several Caribbean states that
benefit directly from choosing sides in the China/Taiwan
official recognition battle.
Belize, Haiti, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and St
Kitts-Nevis continue to recognise Taiwan while the rest of
the CARICOM countries have diplomatic relations with China.
Earlier this year ended its 10-year relations with China and
restored ties with rival Taiwan. |
