Roseau Dominica is home to an Embassy of the People's Republic of China. In addition Dominica is one of several Caribbean states that benefit directly from choosing sides in the China/Taiwan official recognition battle.

Belize, Haiti, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and St Kitts-Nevis continue to recognise Taiwan while the rest of the CARICOM countries have diplomatic relations with China. Earlier this year ended its 10-year relations with China and restored ties with rival Taiwan.
