"Welch has become known as one of the proud members
of the Barbuda community, bursting on the scene several
years ago when her talented voice won her the island’s
Teenage Pageant competition. She continued to
excel, taking part in the island’s Caribana Queen
competition and later contesting and winning the calypso
competition. She has also featured in the Antigua
Calypso competition and this year won from a field of
five contestants during the Caribana calypso
competition."
