Mexico
supports teaching Spanish language in the Caribbean. |
May 23, 2007:
CASTRIES, St Lucia: Within the framework of the Cooperation
Program with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the
government of Mexico supports the efforts made by the
governments of the Caribbean countries to teach the Spanish
language, by means of the following activities:
According to a Mexican embassy press release on Tuesday,
during the months of April and May, approximately 500
Spanish text books have been delivered to each
English-speaking Caribbean country, which will serve as
educational material to support the professors who teach
this language.
The fourth stage of “The Educational Formation Program for
the Teaching of Spanish as a second language in the English
Caribbean Speaking Countries”, will be held in México City
from the 11th to the 20th of June, in which 15 teachers will
participate. |

also organised by the government of Mexico, which took place
in Trinidad and Tobago (November 2004), Jamaica (June 2005)
and St Lucia (March 2006).
The teachers participating in this seminar have received
training in the techniques to teach Spanish and, when this
stage is completed, will count on the educational tools
necessary to transmit their knowledge to other tutors.
They are from Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados, Belize;
Dominica; Guyana; Jamaica; St Kitts and Nevis; St Lucia; St
Vincent and the Grenadines; Suriname and Trinidad and
Tobago. |
