Second
Guyanese national commits suicide in Antigua in as many
days. |
May 4, 2007: In two apparently unrelated events in
Antigua this week, two Guyanese nationals have been found
hanging after apparent successful suicides.
On Thursday 3, May, 47 year old Brian Perreira,
a baker who lived alone, was found by his Landlord who had
not seen the gentleman in two days. By the landlord's
account after searching through and around the home of the
deceased he came upon the bedroom and when he pushed the
bedroom door, he felt some resistance against the door. He
then peeped around the door and came face to face with the
hanging body.
On Tuesday evening 22 year old Glen King, a Guyanese
national only days away from being sworn in as an Antiguan
citizen was found hanging from an acacia tree in his yard by
his mother. According to his distressed family the young man
had been depressed for some time following the end of a
relationship but had never given any indication that he was
having suicidal thoughts. |
