Antigua records murder # 7. |
| A man who died one
week after being struck in the back of the head by a 2x4
plank has been registered as Antigua's 7th murder of the
year. The deceased fell unconscious after being hit on April
19 and had not regained consciousness before his passing. He
was therefore unable to give police in that island any
information about his assailant(s)
and to-date no one has been arrested. |
This unconscious
man died on the same day that a 16 year old stabbed a 15
year old to death in the presence of several witnesses on
the way home from school. The 15 year old victim had
apparently pursued and attacked the assailant with a cutlass
before an adult, the deceased's grand mother, managed
to intervene. It was at this time that the 16 year old
allegedly pulled a sharp weapon from his knapsack and
stabbed him.
Antigua, with a population of approximately 70,000 has
recorded 2 murders per month for the past three months. |
