American
Airlines announces new non-stop service to St. Kitts from
JFK |
April 27 2007: American
Airlines (AA) has announced the commencement of a new twice
weekly, non-stop flight from the John F Kennedy
International (JFK), New York, to St. Kitts. The
flights are slated to begin on Sunday November 18 and
will be operated on Sundays and Wednesdays using a 757
aircraft which has 22 business class seats and 166 coach
seats.
According to officials, the agreement between the St. Kitts
Tourism Authority and AA is a revenue-guaranteed contract
which states that if the plane is not full, then the Tourism
Authority will pay the difference. It will be operated for
one year after which period the agreement is renewable. |

Tourism officials in St. Kitts believes that the demand for
more seats will be fueled by new developments, (ongoing and
proposed) giving that the north eastern US region is the
source of a large proportion of the island's tourists and
the destination of the majority of St. Kitts nationals
living in the USA.
American currently operates a well fed non-stop service to
Miami, via St. Kitts and US Airways also currently flies
directly to the island from Charlotte. |
