Over the
past few years, it has been noted there is an increased
amount of litter buildup in public areas on Anguilla. A
contributor to this could be the lack of Refuse
Receptacles in highly trafficked areas. Experience has
shown that if attention is not paid to this problem, it
would have a negative impact on Anguilla’s landscape. With
this in mind Skyviews has offered to assist the Government
with keeping Anguilla litter free through their expertise in
advertising and client relations.
Through
collaboration with the Ministry of Helath, The Anguilla
Tourist Board, The Ministry of Infrastructure Communications
and Utilities and the Dept. of Physical Planning Twenty
five ‘high traffic’ areas (i.e. schools, the library,
ports of entry and recreational areas) where the provision
of a Refuse Receptacle would be advantageous in beautifying
the surroundings and leaving the environment in a pristine
state have been selected for bins to be erected.
To offset
the project, Skyviews and its partners are soliciting
assistance from the business community through sponsorship
of the bins. Interested private sector agencies will
purchase an advertising panel which will provide financial
assistance to the project. It is estimated that with the
involvement of private enterprise, the receptacles would
have paid for themselves by the end of year one and
would then become the property of the Government of
Anguilla.
Benefits to sponsors are:
-
Private enterprise will be seen by the public to be
contributing to beautifying Anguilla.
-
Private enterprise will be viewed as furthering their
commitment to the development of Anguilla.
-
Private enterprise will benefit from roadside
advertising.
The
Government of Anguilla, The Anguilla Tourist Board and
Skyview’s invites wide and varied participation from the
Business Community, to assist with the promotion of ‘Bin
It’.
