March
27, 2007: The Australia Herald Sun has reported that
deputy commissioner of Jamaica's Police Force, Mark Shields
have ruled out Pakistan's Cricket Players as suspects in the
murder of Bob Woolmer.
Shields in an interview with the Sun is quoted as
saying "I have got no evidence to suggest it was anybody
in the squad".
With the spotlight shifting
away from the players, more questions are being asked about
security for the games.
In an article appearing on the
Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) website, Zafar
Iqbal Chaudhary, chairman of Pakistan's Senate Standing
Committee on Sports, extended the blame for Woolmer's murder
to poor security. "I would say that lax security at
the team's hotel may also share the blame for this
heart-rending incident," Chaudhary was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile investigators in Jamaica are reportedly reviewing,
frame by frame, approximately 14 hours of CCTV footage taken
from the Pegasus Hotel in an effort to solve this crime that
has detracted from the Historic World Cup being held in the
Caribbean for the first time. |
