March,
23, 2007: Leading
the way on a new residential wave about to crest on
Eleuthera in the Bahamas is French Leave Resort. The
new low-density development will bring a five-star
experience to resort and residential living with
oceanfront home sites, luxury resort residences and
a new yacht harbor. Dedicated to preserving the
island’s natural environment and authenticity,
developer EIC Resorts is reducing the density and
scale of the development from what was once the Club
Med site to a two-story enclave for resort
residences, as well as increasing green space and
unobstructed ocean views. French Leave Resort will
ultimately launch a rebirth of an island that was
once one of the world’s most coveted vacation
destinations.
The property is located in
Governor’s Harbour, the capital of Eleuthera and
oldest settlement in the Bahamas. The island of
Eleuthera, defined by 90 miles of untouched beaches,
high elevations, long forgotten pineapple
plantations and infinite views, is just 60 miles
east of Nassau and 240 miles southeast of Miami.
Home to pink sand beaches, turquoise waves, starry
nights and flurries of butterflies, Eleuthera’s
physical attributes are rivaled only by its rich
history and central location that allows access to
cosmopolitan draws like Harbour Island.
Spread over 265 acres of lush vegetation, French
Leave Resort will boast “sea to sea” views from
French Leave Beach to French Leave Marina Village.
While the historic Club Med site contained 300
units, the new low-density development on French
Leave Beach will consist of only 68 fully furnished
luxury oceanfront resort residences, 12 poolside
luxury studio residences, 17 villas, 10 estates and
10 cottages.
Amenities at the property include an
infinity-edge oceanfront swimming pool; original
spade-shaped winter swimming pool; full-service
salon and spa; fitness center; night-lighted tennis
courts; flat widescreen (LCD) televisions; large
“open concept” gourmet kitchens; luxury “Frette”
linens and L’Occitane bath products.
French Leave Marina Village will be home to 32
luxury residences, 12 colonial-style homes and 50
yacht slips at the first full-service Yacht Harbour
at Governor’s Harbour. Residents and owners of Yacht
slips at French Leave Marina Village will enjoy full
membership privileges throughout the resort.
EIC retained distinguished
architects Bernardo Fort-Brescia of Arquitectonica
and Cesar Molina to lead the designs of the
property. Spacious indoor and outdoor living spaces
will feature floor-to-ceiling panel doors, capturing
the stunning views of French Leave Beach and the
Atlantic Ocean. All residences will contain an “open
concept” gourmet kitchen with state-of-the-art
equipment, as well as widescreen LCD televisions and
DSL high speed Internet access. In addition, a new
Yacht Harbour will service luxury yachts and sport
fishing boats at Governor’s Harbour on the Caribbean
Sea, while providing members with privileges
throughout French Leave Resort.
Construction of French Leave Resort begins this
spring with occupancy targeted for late 2008. For
