death.
March 7, 2007:
The 22 year old daughter of a popular daily tv/radio host on the state
broadcasting corporation (ZNS) of the Bahamas has died of stab wounds
resulting from a violent assault on her by her 22 year old boy
friend on Sunday March 4 2007.
She had been visiting the boy friend when an argument developed and
violence erupted.
The single mother, Trevone McKinney daughter of Steve McKinney was
apparently repeatedly stabbed and hospitalized for several hours
undergoing multiple surgeries, before she eventually succumbed to her
injuries.
Before her death her father had made urgent public appeals for blood
donors to visit the Princess Margaret Hospital
"There is a lot of violence over the country and my daughter was a
victim. She is an innocent child and she is still very young and we
would hate to lose another young person in our country," Mr McKinney had
told The Nassau Guardian.
Mr. McKinney hosts the popular "Immediate Response" program which
tackles numerous social and political issues including escalating crime
in the island chain where 14 murders have been recorded so far in 2007.
