The British Virgin Islands (BVI) played host to the the 2009
United Kingdom Caribbean Overseas Territories (UKCOTs) and
Bermuda Criminal Justice Conference bringing together
delegates from Bermuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, Cayman
Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the host
territory.
Anguilla was represented at the
Conference by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Illidge
Richardson, Superintendent Of Prisons, Conrad Gumbs
and Chief Immigration Officer, Laureen Bryan.

The conference was held over a 3-day
period from April 21 to 23, 2009, at the Long Bay Beach
Resort under the theme “Identifying our Organizational
Strengths and Weaknesses––What needs to be achieved to
sustain and improve”.
Delegates included commissioners of police, comptrollers of
customs, chief immigration officers and officials from the
British High Commission to serve as facilitators for
discussions on law enforcement matters. The Deputy Director
of the Overseas Directorate for all Overseas Territories
with responsibility for Law Enforcement, Ms. Helen Nellthorp,
also attended the conference.
Discussion items on the agenda included United Kingdom
Forensic Science Service; Money Laundering and Asset
Confiscation in the Caribbean Region, Witness
Protection-Issues and Investigating Serious Crimes at Sea,
among other topics. |
