New York, NY - Carlson Connor Lloyd,
President of the Anguilla Progressive Association of New
York (APANY) and Rey Allen, Vice President, its Board of
Trustees and elected officers; proudly announce that a
donation of 10 (ten) computer and 15 (fifteen) boxes of
books that were recently shipped to Anguilla.
According to Connor Lloyd, the donation of computers and
books (made possible by several anonymous donors) will
arrive in Anguilla on December 15, 2008, and will be
distributed equally to all public and private schools on
Anguilla.
President Connor Lloyd who was responsible for the donation
of books states “we are proud of our homeland Anguilla, and
this effort upholds one of the Kwanzaa principles of
“collective work and responsibility.” “It is also rooted in
our tradition of “jollification” which is “Anguillans
helping Anguillans” out of the goodness of their hearts.
A special thanks goes to: Frank Woods for spearheading and
coordinating the drive for the computer donation, as well as
to Laurel Hodge, Rey Allan and Renwick Harrigan (aka “Winkie”);
for their unwavering support and assistance in connection
with the shipment of books and computers to Anguilla. Also,
a special thanks and honorable mention also goes to Tropical
Shipping (an Anguillan company) for providing pro bono
shipping services of the gifts to Anguilla.
