The Miss Anguilla Queens Pageant 2008 Contestants are Presented to the World

(West End, Anguilla) - Glamour came to Sirena Hotel on Wednesday 04, June, when the contestants for the Miss Anguilla Queens Pageant 2008, were presented at a cocktail party attended by the press, contestant sponsors and well wishers.

Fitzroy Tomlinson, Summer Festival Coordinator, welcomed guests on behalf of Festival Committee Chair, John Benjamin. “This is indeed a pleasure to see that we are continuing in the same strength that we left the 2007 Summer Festival on. I am privileged to be standing by five beautiful young ladies and there is another young lady being represented here,” he announced. He presented Rebecca Webster, the new Pageant Committee Chair.

The contestants for the Miss Anguilla 2008 title introduced themselves.

Contestant 1, Curlee Gumbs, 19, was represented by Charla Connor due her being off-island for the event. Curlee has previously been crowned Miss CCB talented teen 2004 and Miss Venus Model Anguilla 2006. 

Contestant 2, D3 Enterprises receptionist, Cassandra Webster, 18, is competing in her first beauty contest.

Contestant 3 is Csandre Wattley, 21, from Island Harbour, sponsored by Frangipani.

Contestant 4, Fanny Richardson, 18, “loves being in pageants,” and promises her Carnival costume will be “beautiful.”

Contestant 5,  Kericia Barry, 19, represents North Hill and is a veteran of the Miss Island Shore competition, where she was First Runner Up.

Contestant 6 is Kendisha Hall, 19, sponsored by her employer, NBA. She is a former "All - Ah - We" theatre player.

The swimsuit and costume competition is on 27 July. The final is on 7 August. The winner, in addition to winning the title, Miss Anguilla, wins EC$25,000.

All contestants receive a host of valuable gifts.
