Jaine opened the show for a lineup of living legends namely, Diana
Ross, Gladys Knight,
Patti Labelle and Chaka Khan.
Bernie Williams, New York
Yankees superstar who released his debut album in 2003, hosted the two sold out
shows. Accompanying the artistes was the American Theater Orchestra, conducted
by Paul Gemignani, the award-winning Musical Director for over 38 Broadway and
West End shows. The American Theater Orchestra comprises New York City’s top
classical and Broad-way musicians who perform at the highest level.
The event, dubbed Divas with Heart, was the
50th anniversary benefit concert for the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (MMRL).
For the past 50 years the MMRL has “pioneered cutting edge research in the field
of experimental cardiology” and has been described as “a beacon of hope for
those who have been touched by the number one killer of men and women, heart
disease.”
Jaine is well known in the Anguilla and Eastern Caribbean Jazz circuit, and
was extremely well-received when she represented Anguilla at CARIFESTA IX in
Trinidad and Tobago in 2006.
Anguillians can look forward
to another signature moment in Jaine’s career with the soon to be released album
Under Your Skin, with the musical directorship of Master Drummer Michael Carvin
and produced by Anguilla Music Production and Publishing (AMPP) Inc.
