Super Stars
win knock out football competition

The Anguilla female football tournament commenced with a
knock out /single elimination competition following a brief
opening ceremony this past weekend. In the first abbreviated
game the Lil Soldiers played the Youngsters in a thrilling
game. During the first half both teams had equal
opportunities to score but were unable to convert. Early in
the second half the educated feet of Mellisa Anderson scored
to give her team the lead and the victory.
The second match was a cosmic collision as the light
emitting plasmas of the Super Stars played against the
Shining Stars. Some scientific reports suggest that when two
stars collide one of two things can happen; both stars
amalgamate and form one large star or if they miss each
other they orbit each other forming a binary star system.
Realizing the possible outcomes both stars combined emitting
the bright light of talent. Both teams played really hard
but none seem to have the edge even though Shining Stars had
more opportunities. Monique Carty struck midway in the
second half to give her team the lead and victory.
With two teams now eliminated the Lil Soldiers entertained
the Gazelles in a physical encounter. Both teams realized
victory meant a place in the finals but Mellisa Anderson
stole the show. She bedazzled and mesmerized her opponents
as she dribbled through them. Her hard work coupled with
some support from her teams allowed her to pounce on a
Gazelles error. She was able to convert and gave her team
the victory, sending them to the championship game.
Both Lil Soldiers and Super Stars were eyeing the chance of
raising the coveted trophy. The game was tense as no one
wanted to make an error. Melissa Carty “Das wunderkind”
played with poise as she moved where necessary to help her
team. Her nemesis Mellisa Anderson showed her true colours
as she staged her trade mark skills to confuse her
opponents. However in the second half, Makeba Reid connected
on a Melissa Carty corner to score the lone goal of the
game. The Lil Soldiers now worked frantically to score the
equalizer; unfortunately it was not to be.
Congratulations to the Knock out Champions Super Stars.
