SHABEAU Magazine (acronym for Shades of Caribbean Beauty), a
publication which features Caribbean designers, models and
entertainment practitioners, announced in February
that it would be adding Anguilla to its repertoire come
April 2008. It offered male and female models living in
Anguilla the opportunity be a part of the
competition and possibly fulfill their dream of becoming an
international model with an international model
contract up for grabs. The models were to participate in the
Face of Shabeau Caribbean Competition in Barbados, a key
component of the Shabeau Magazine Style Weekend on
April 19th and 20th.
In
communication with anguillanews.com on Wednesday, April 16,
Senior Editor with the Magazine, Akeem Branch said "Shabeau
Style Weekend is on [but] there are no representatives from
Anguilla". The reason given for the failed venture into the
island was that "persons didn't have the finances to attend
the show" - a requirement that we must note was not stated
in the initial announcement released in February by the
magazine and that was carried on this website.
The Style Weekend is slated to take place in Barbados this
weekend and according to Branch, there will be contestants
from:
Barbados,
Grenada,
Guyana,
St. Lucia,
St. Kitts,
St. Vincent,
Trinidad & Tobago. |
