Cable Responds To Questions About Discontinuation Of Analog
Television Signals In The United States
Date Posted: April 08, 2008. Press Release CCC
As many of Caribbean Cable Communications’ (CCC) subscribers
have seen or heard, the Federal Communications Commission in
the United States has decided that US Television Stations
will stop broadcasting analog television signals in 2009.
CCC has been receiving enquiries from its customers in
Anguilla, Nevis and Montserrat about how they might be
affected by this change.
Caribbean Cable Communications would like to take this
opportunity to inform its customers that it will continue to
provide analog services. The company does intend to convert
over to digital at some time in the not too distant future.
When this conversion of our service takes place, Caribbean
Cable Communications will employ a set-up box which will be
compatible with existing analog television sets and the new
digital sets. Our customers need not be concerned that their
television sets will be rendered obsolete by future changes.
As discussions regarding a revision of our programming have
been taking place, Caribbean Cable Communications’ customers
have been asking whether they should purchase
high-definition televisions. As a courtesy, we would like to
advise our customers that most of the flat screen
televisions have this capability. Presently, Caribbean Cable
is looking into the feasibility of offering a
high-definition tier cable service. Our timing will depend
on consumer demand and the cost of the equipment, but we
will continue to keep our customers advised.
As we continue to review our strategic direction, our
customers can be assured that they will have an opportunity
to offer their input on issues regarding programming and
services so that we can continue to offer the best possible
video entertainment services. Meanwhile, we take this
opportunity to thank our customers for their patronage.
