The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) continues to keep the
public well informed of the level of criminal activity
on the island on a weekly basis. Their latest update which
covers the period March 27, 2008 to April 02, 2008, shows
relatively low numbers of crimes reported. During the
period, there were two theft related convictions and police
made five drug related arrests.The Numbers
Police say there were eight (8) crime reports recorded
during the period, about half as many as the previous weekly
totals throughout March. The offences included two (2)
reports of Burglary, four (4) reports of Theft, one (1)
report of Robbery and one (1) report of Unlawful Sexual
Intercourse with a minor - no further details were given on
the sexual offense.
During the period there were also seven (7) traffic
accidents recorded.
The Details
The crimes occurred in the Villages of Island Harbour,
Cauls Bottom, The Valley, Statia Valley, Old Ta, North Hill
South Hill, and West End.
In one of the burglaries, a video camera and a cell phone
were stolen from a home in Old Ta. In the other, $70.00EC
was stolen from the Clinic in South Hill.
In the theft cases, the items reported stolen included one
(1) Pit Bull, one (1) Rottweiler, and one (1) Wielding
Machine.

The traffic accidents were categorized as six (6) minor and
one (1) serious.
Arrests & Convictions
During the period police say that five (5) drug related
arrests were made.
On March 28, 2008 at 11:30pm the Drug Task Force and CID
officers arrested D.C. and D.G. both males of South Hill.
D.C. was arrested for the possession of 4.9 grams of cocaine
and D.G. for the possession of 9.6 grams of Cannabis. Each
was formally charged and taken before the Magistrate's court
where the former was granted bail in the sum of $10,000.00
EC and the latter was granted bail in the sum of
$20,000.00 EC. Each is to return to court on May 05, 2008.
The condition of their bail requires they report to the
Valley Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
On the same evening at about 10:20pm, Drug Task Force and
CID officers arrested one female (G.H. of Sea Feathers) for
the possession of 4.3 grams of Cannabis and one male
(A.M. of Sea Feathers) for the possession of 0.5 grams of
Cannabis. Each was formally charged and taken before the
Magistrate's court where the female was granted bail in the
sum of $10,000.00 EC and the male was granted bail in the
sum of $2,000.00 EC. Each is to return to court on May 05,
2008. The condition of the female's bail requires her to
report to the Valley Police Station every Monday, Wednesday
and Friday.
Also at 10:20pm on March 28, Drug Task Force and CID
officers arrested A.H. of West End for the possession of 2
grams of cannabis. He was later formally charged and taken
before the magistrate court, where he was granted bail in
the sum of $2,000.00 EC to return to court on the May 05,
2008.
Convictions
On Monday March 31, 2008 Mr. Stedroy Hodge of North
Valley appeared before the Magistrate on a charge of theft.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and received a sentence of
three months in prison.
On the same date, Mr. Romaine Walters of North Valley
appeared before the Magistrate on a charge of handling goods
reasonably believed to be stolen, he pleaded guilty to the
offence and received a sentence of three months in prison to
run concurrent to a previous sentence.
