- The latest update from the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF),
suggests they had a relatively busy week between March 13
and March 19, particularly with theft. Police say that they
have arrested and charged a 24-year-old young man (PB)
in relation to one of the theft reports and investigations
into the other offences are ongoing.
The Numbers
Police say nineteen (19) crimes were reported during the
period, five more than the what were reported during the
previous week. The offences included two (2) reports of
Burglary, sixteen (16) reports of Theft and one (1)
attempted Rape.
The Details
The crimes spanned the island, occurring in the villages
of Island Harbour, Mount Fortune, Sandy Hill,
Cauls Bottom, The Quarter, The Valley, Corito, George
Hill, South Hill and West End. In the Burglary cases,
all of which occurred at homes, the items reported stolen
included one (1) Camera, (1) Cellular Phone and one (1)
Wallet containing Credit/Bank cards. In the theft cases the
items reported stolen included one (1) Air tank for water
pump, one(1) Bicycle, Motor Vehicle Parts, one(1) bottle of
Baileys liqueur, and twenty four(24) crates of seedlings.
Arrests and Convictions
On Tuesday March 18, 2008, officers of the RAPF arrested and
charged a young man CG of South Hill for the importation and
possession of cannabis. The offences occurred at Blowing
Point ferry terminal. He appeared before the Magistrate and
was granted bail in the sum ten thousand dollars EC
($10,000.00EC) to return to court on May 5, 2008.
As reported separately, On Friday
March 14, 2008, Mr. Sheldon Brooks of North Valley was found
guilty in the high court for the murder of Dwayne Connor of
Rey Hill that occurred on the January 7, 2006 at North
Valley. He was sentenced to life in prison.
On Tuesday March 18, 2008 Mr. Daniel Carty of South Hill was
convicted in the Magistrate court for the offence of being
armed with an offensive weapon. Mr. Carty who was arrested
for committing this offence on February 15, 2008, was
sentenced to four (4) months imprisonment at Her Majesty’s
Prison in the Valley.
Also on Tuesday, Mr. Camy Fabre of Haiti was convicted in
the magistrate court and sentenced to be removed from
Anguilla as a prohibited immigrant under the immigration and
passport act section n11(2)
Traffic Accidents
There were twelve (12) traffic accidents recorded, all of
which were categorized as minor. |
