Cable Launches Anguilla’s First 24-Hour Tourism Channel
Date Posted: March 19, 2008
(The Vallley, Anguilla) - As Anguilla continues to develop
as the premier Caribbean destination, Caribbean Cable
Communications and Blue Island/Eye TV have joined forces to
help keep tourists and residents fully informed about
activities and entertainment opportunities around our
beautiful island. Blue Island is the first professionally
produced 24-hour Tourism Channel aired in Anguilla. The
official launch will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 on cable
channel 20.
Following multiple trips to Anguilla to facilitate the
planning of the project, Donna Davis, Producer of Eye TV,
brought her professional production team to Anguilla. This
raw footage has been edited into a quality 45 minute program
which incorporates 18 segments with 14 sponsors. It includes
information on restaurants, water activities, island
culture, real estate, local and regional art and unique
features of Anguilla.
Presenters include Anguillians Csandre Wattley, Glenville
Thomas and Caribbean Cable’s own Valencia Cox. Mrs. Davis
expressed her thanks to the Anguilla Tourist Board and Mrs.
Amelia Vanterpool Kubish and the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism
Association and Ms. Trudy Nixon for their invaluable
assistance in supporting this project.
In explaining the rationale behind the partnership, Damien
Hughes, Branch Manager said “Donna Davis currently produces
a highly successful Tourism Channel in the Turks and Caicos
Islands. When she expressed an interest in expanding her
service to other islands we invited her to Anguilla.” Mrs.
Davis expressed her thanks for the warm reception: “The
support that we have received in Anguilla has made all of
this possible. It has been a great experience. I am truly
excited to be making this contribution to Anguilla’s tourism
development.
Meanwhile, the public is advised that Blue Island/Eye TV
will be aired on Channel 20 starting Tuesday, March 25th.
The TBN programming will continue to be available to the
viewing public but will be moved to Channel 75.
