(The Valley, Anguilla) The latest update from
the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) revealed that over
the past week four homes were broken into, there were 6
vehicle accidents - including 1 serious and a North Valley
resident was convicted of causing Grievous Bodily Harm in
2007 and sentenced to 2-years in prison.
The Numbers
Police say fourteen (14) crimes were reported
between March 6 and March 13, 2008, two more than what
were reported during the first week of the month. The
offences included four (4) reports of Burglary, six (6)
reports of Criminal Damage, and four (4) reports of Theft.
The Details
The crimes occurred in the villages of Junks Hole, Little
Harbour, The Valley, Cul-De-Sac, South Hill, and West End.
In the Burglary cases all of which occurred at homes, the
items reported stolen included one (1) television, one (1)
cellular phone, one (1) construction float and one (1)
shovel. In the theft cases the items reported stolen
included one (1) Ram Goat, $800.00 US and $170.00 EC. in
cash. PVC Pipes, electrical Pipes, Snap ties, Nails and Pipe
fittings were all taken from one construction site, while
one (1) pallet of concrete blocks were taken from another
construction site.
The RAPF say that they have solved one of the theft reports
and investigations into the other offences are ongoing.
Conviction
On Tuesday 11th March 2008 Mr. Romaine Walters of North
Valley was convicted for the offence of Grievous Bodily Harm
in the magistrate court. Mr. Walters who was arrested for
committing this offence in August 7, 2007 was sentence to
two years imprisonment at Her Majesty’s Prison in the
Valley.
Traffic Accidents
During the defined period, there were six (6) Traffic
Accidents recorded. The accidents were categorized as one
(1) serious and five (05) minor. |
