(The Valley, Anguilla) March 07, 2008: The most
recent update from the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF)
revealed that two schools and one home were broken into over
the past week. There was on average one accident per
day and yet another young man was arrested on a drug related
offence.
The Numbers
Police say twelve criminal offences were reported for the
defined period between 29th February and 6th March 2008, two
more than the final week in February. The offences included
three (3) reports of Burglary, five (5) reports of Criminal
Damage, three (3) reports of Theft and one (1) Drug related
offence.
The Details
The crimes were not localised to any one area of the island;
affecting the villages of East End, The Farrington, Welches,
The Quarter, The Valley, Corito, Roaches Hill, South Hill,
North Hill and West End. Two of the burglaries occurred at
Government schools, namely, the Valley Primary School and
the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS). At
the former, the burglars made away with a Laptop computer
valued at US $900.00 and a small amount of cash while at the
ALHCS, a burglar(s) entered the secretary’s office and
ransacked the office safe. The third burglary occurred
at a home where a weed cutter valued at US $300.00, a
machete valued at $18.00 EC and $60.00 EC in coins were
stolen.
In the three theft cases the items reported stolen were
one cellular phone, two bicycles, and a bag containing
$200.00 US, personal documents, bank and credit cards.
Drug Arrest
On Wednesday 5th March 2008 the firearm and drug task force of the Royal Anguilla Police Force arrested and charged a young man M R of
Tackling Estate for possession of cannabis. He was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 EC to appear in court on the 12th March 2008.
Traffic Accidents
There were eight (8) Traffic Accidents recorded
between the 29th February and 6th March 2008, all of which
were categorized as minor.
