Updated March 5, 2008: A Beautiful Party for a Beautiful Cause’ the Arijah Children’s Foundation of Anguilla will to launch their fundraising campaign at a special party on March 22nd at Shoal Bay Development Centre..

The Arijah Children’s Foundation of Anguilla is dedicated to improving the lives of Anguilla’s special needs children. It was founded by Renuka and Alex Harrigan in honour of their ‘special’ child Arijah. The Arijah (sounds like are ee yah) Foundation’s Mission is to create a childcare and development centre in Anguilla for special needs children where ‘childcare can blossom and capacities and skills are awakened, nurtured and strengthened giving each child a chance to develop their potential and to live the full and meaningful lives they were born to live…’

Renuka and Alex Harrigan say that their daughter Arijah has a foundation named after here because she is ‘special’. Renuka says ‘We, her family, created a non-profit foundation in her namesake and bearing her brother’s handprint in order to bring hope and the promise of a brighter future for Arijah and children like her.”

The Arijah Foundation of Anguilla hopes to have its own a childcare and development centre and the ‘Beautiful Party” is to launch the fundraising campaign to make that happen. Renuka is a busy working mother of two and has been working tirelessly to progress the foundation but realized she could only do so much on her own so recently appointed a Board of Directors and a Marketing and Fundraising Committees to help progress the project professionally. The idea for the party evolved after Renuka received a generous offer of assistance in the form of hosting a fundraising auction from the team behind the Shoal Bay Beach Development. The marketing and fundraising committee immediately got excited about the idea and decided to create a ‘Beautiful Party for a Beautiful Cause’ in order to make a big impression on both locals and tourists who may like to know more or support the charity.

Tickets are available from Shoal Bay Development Centre, Keene Enterprises, The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association and Devonish Art Gallery. The $20.00 ticket price includes barbeque food, music and entry into the silent auction. The silent auction features some fabulous lots including hotel stays, restaurant meals, vouchers for some of our top stores, designer cloths, handbags, jewelry, flights and much more. In addition there is raffle whose star prize is a $2,500 pearl necklace.
