Webster Wins Optimist Club Essay Contest
Ms. Kyrstie Webster, a student at the Albena Lake Hodge
Comprehensive School, recently won the Optimist Club of
Anguilla 2008 essay contest based on a theme of “Today’s
Choices Shape My Future.”
Krystie emerged as winner from a field of eleven
participants, and will receive $250 US, sponsored by the
National Bank of Anguilla, towards a savings account at
the said institution; the second prize of $150 US, sponsored
by AnguillaLNT -

went to Jahvez Hamilton of Stoney Ground Primary School,
and the third prize of $100 US, sponsored by the
Department of Youth & Culture, went to Arielle Gaskin
of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School.
Chairperson – Mr. Rhon Connor, speaking on behalf of the
Essay Committee stated that the judges felt that “Krystie
did a wonderful job of articulating this year’s theme. She
expressed herself well throughout the essay and deserved the
honor of first place.”
The Optimist Club of Anguilla and the Essay Committee would
like to express congratulations to Krystie Webster, and
convey their gratitude to all participants and judges who
willingly participated in the activity. The Club is also
extremely grateful to the Parents and teachers who encourage
the students to participate in the contest, and also wishes
to express appreciation to the National Bank of Anguilla,
Anguilla LNT and Department of Youth and Culture for their
generous sponsorship towards the success of the 2008 essay
contest.
