February 28, 2008: The quality batting of Anguilla's Montcin Hodge in the island's entertaining
encounter against Grenada is standing out as one of the best of the 2008
Stanford 2020 tournament.
Certainly the final between Jamaica and Trinidad revealed, vividly, why
the West Indian
side heavily weighted with players from a single island may so often collapse in
such a spectacular manner. If nothing more it has reminded the general public
that the talent of some young men in small islands equals or surpasses that of
the often heralded players from larger islands.
"I saw some improvement in Anguilla. (Montcin) Hodge played one of the best
innings of the tournament; young guy from Anguilla, he performed very well."
said West Indian Cricket Legend, Andy Roberts in an interview with the Trinidad
Express.
"I was very impressed with William Perkins of Trinidad, (and) Montcin Hodge of
Anguilla." said West Indian Cricket Legend, Desmond Haynes in an interview
with the Antigua Sun.
