Criminal Offences Reported
There were a total of ten crime reports recorded
between the 18th February and 27th February 2008; The
offences included three (3) reports of burglary, two (2)
reports of criminal damage, three (3) reports of theft and
two (2) drug related offences. The crimes occurred in the
villages of Stoney Ground, South Valley, Sandy Hill, East
End, North Side, The Quarter, Sea feathers Bay and Blowing
Point.
In the burglary cases a quantity of electronic equipment
including computers, cameras, DVD`S and jewelry were taken
from two of the dwelling houses, while only cash were taken
from the other home.
In the theft cases the items reported stolen were one
cellular phone, a bag containing documents and three hundred
and ninety ($390.00) US dollars, and three hundred ($300) EC
dollars.
The criminal investigation department is carrying out
investigations into all of the reported crimes.
Drug Arrests
Customs Department officers assisted by officers of the
Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) arrested and charged
three young men for the possession of 4.135 kilograms of
cannabis and importation of a controlled drug at the Blowing
Point Ferry Terminal on Wednesday 20th February 2008.
Police say the arrest involved the crew of a local charter
vessel. The three persons arrested (E.H. of West End , S.R.
of Blowing Point and S.R. of Swing High) appeared before the
magistrate on the Friday 21st February 2008 and were
granted bail in the sum of $ 40,000.00 EC each to appear in
court on 5th May 2008.
On Friday 22nd February 2008 officers of the
Royal Anguilla Police Force Firearm and Drug Task Force
Arrested and Charged a young man S.W. of Stoney Ground for
the Possession of Cannabis. The seized cannabis with a
weight of 2.8 grams was taken into custody as an exhibit. He
was granted bail in the sum of $2000.00 EC to appear before
the Magistrate court on 20th March 2008.
