February 20, 2008: 18-year-old Mr. Delano Smith of Stoney Ground was sentenced
to life imprisonment, after being convicted of murder
before the Honourable Madam Justice George Creque at the
High Court on February 18, 2008. Smith was convicted of the
November 10, 2006 murder of Clifford Christie (19), a
Guyanese national living on Anguilla. Christie was stabbed
in the vicinity of the Webster park and was pronounced dead
on arrival to the Princess Alexandria Hospital.
Drug conviction
Kevin Carty of Blowing Point appeared before the
Magistrate court on Tuesday February 19, 2008, charged
with several drug related offences. He was arrested on the
27th of March 2007 during an operation undertaken by the
RAPF Firearm and Drug Taskforce and charged with the
offences of Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cannabis
and Possession of Cocaine with intent to supply.
On the charge of Possession of Cannabis he was sentenced
to 12 months imprisonment, Possession of Cocaine he was
sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, and on the charge of
Possession of Cocaine with intent to supply he received a
sentence of 20 months imprisonment. The sentences will all
run concurrently. |
