Congratulates Dame Lake and Dr. Reva Hobson |

The Valley, Anguilla, – The Honourable Osbourne
Fleming and his colleagues on behalf of the Government and
people of Anguilla wish to congratulate Dame Bernice QC on
the occasion of being conferred with the honorary degree of
Doctor of Laws by the University of the West Indies, at the
Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.
Chief Fleming said that his government stands behind
education and empowerment of all Anguillians. Mr. Fleming
stated Dame Lake has been a model citizen and has made an
invaluable contribution to the legal, social, economical and
political life of Anguilla. This recognition by the
University of the West Indies speaks for all through the
various islands of her attributes and services rendered to
the people of the region and beyond. |

The Government is
proud that Dame Lake has been recognized amongst her peers
and amongst her own peoples. The Chief Minister stressed
that her life is a role model regarding public participation
and what it means to be a good citizen in a country. The
Government of Anguilla is doing its part to ensure that
others follow in the footsteps of Dame Lake and has spend
over 7 Million EC Dollars in grants, scholarships and
financial support to students studying in various
disciplines for the period 2006 – 2007. Government believes
that the greatest asset of the country has been and still is
its people.
Government also congratulates Dr. Reva Hobson-Richardson who
was also honoured in St. Thomas for her outstanding
contribution in the field of health care in St. Thomas USVI.
