| October 1, 2007: Rain forced the abandonment of the limited-overs
encounter between Anguilla and Nevis on Sunday at
Webster Park in Anguilla, but not before the home
crowd was once again treated to high caliber cricket
from a young and increasingly powerful home team.
The game got started at 11:20 am after a near 2
hour delay due to rain. For a few hours after
the start, sunshine returned in its glory to the ground and Nevis were sent
in by Anguilla's admirable skipper Chaka Hodge. It
wasn't long before they were off to a flying
start, accumulating 55 in 6 overs before opener
Tyson was dismissed, caught behind off the skipper
himself.
The score was 98/3 after Nevis's captain and West Indies batsman, Runako
Morton, was completely deceived by the Doosra of fellow West Indies
all-rounder Omari Banks. Banks dominated
the batting and by the time the rain came once
again, he had scalped five wickets for 11 runs off
5.4 overs and the Nevisians were in serious trouble
at 142/8 in the 33rd over. Alex Adams was the other
wicket taker for Anguilla, snaring 2 for 29.
The match was called off in the 33rd over and
both sides were awarded 1 point each.
