July 17, 2007: In the midst of major ongoing
debate regarding the large number of Asian workers imported
into Anguilla by luxury project developers,
www.anguillanews.com
has learnt that at least an additional 50 foreign workers
from China and Turkey arrived over the past 5 days to work
on Projects in West End.
Meanwhile, a major concert and
march is being planned for Wednesday evening and Thursday
morning. The concert will feature
local Calypsonians and speakers who will undoubtedly
continue to highlight issues that have triggered serious
concern throughout the island and most likely continue to
call on the Government to resign.
The March on Thursday morning is scheduled to begin at the
Webster's Park at 9:00 am and progress to the Governor's
Office. The purpose of the march is believed to be two fold:
1) To ask for a referendum in regards to the constitutional
reform.
2) To ask for a judicial
inquiry into the dealings of the Government Ministers with
Viceroy & Carillion.
This march could be pivotal in galvanizing or dissipating
momentum against the government, initiated by the large
scale Indian demonstrations over the past weeks. |
