The four other finalists were; The Vancouver Board of Trade, The Chamber of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina; The Goderich & District Chamber of Commerce, Canada and The Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Thirty-eight countries competed in all four categories of the competition, which included Best Unconventional Project for SMEs; Best International Cooperation Between Chambers; Best Skills Development Program, Best New Membership Recruitment Project along with Best Project from a Chamber of a Developing Country.

"The competition was stiff and of high quality but also a great challenge to be chosen as finalist in such a high profile group of Chambers. However, it was not the volume that mattered but the concept of the plan that made a difference" said Stephenie Brooks who attended the Congress for the second time and was part of the finals in 2005 in Durban SA.

The Anguilla Chamber of Commerce's initiative received great interest from Chambers around the world and exchanged views with Chambers of Commerce from neighbours such as the Cayman Islands and Montserrat to Chambers much further removed such as Romania and the Ukraine who wanted in depth details of the concept of the program. In addition the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce was offered the opportunity to launch a whole new initiative and networking partnership with ACCE (American Chamber of Commerce Executives) at their upcoming Convention in Los Angeles from August 1-4. This has to be yet discussed with the Anguilla Financial Services.

The World Chambers Congress is held every two years to deliberate fresh ways to deal with some of the biggest challenges facing business development. Some 1,413 delegations from 110 countries participated in this year's event, which featured an opening address by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

World Chambers Congress has established an enviable reputation as the place where chamber and business leaders get to know international peers and share experience and best practices on grassroots issues that have a direct impact on the chamber of commerce community. This event is the sole international forum open to the global community of over 12,000 chambers.
