29, 2007: Acting Prime Minister of St. Lucia, the Honourable
Stephenson King will open the 34th Annual General Meeting of
the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA) on
Thursday, July 5th at 7.00pm in the Bougainvillea Room, Bay
Gardens Hotel, Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.
Delegates from English, Dutch and French-speaking Caribbean
countries will attend the four day event. As part of its
commitment to youth in the region, CFPA will elect – for the
first time in its history - a young person under twenty five
years old to serve on its Board. Besides the election of new
officers, CFPA’s membership will also seek to identify ways
of improving the delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health
(SRH) services throughout the region for all, especially the
poor.
Other topics slated for discussion include:
The possible effects of Caribbean Community Single Market
and Economy (CSME) Free Movement on SRH;
Relationships between Poverty and regional SRH;
Abortion – keeping it safe and rare; and
Increasing and improving HIV/AIDS awareness amongst
Caribbean youth.

Anguilla will be represented at the meeting by Ms. Lynette
Rogers, Executive Director of the Anguilla Family Planning
Association.
Formed in 1971, the CFPA represents over 24 regional family
planning organisations and is a member of the International
Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), headquartered in
London. The CFPA is based in Antigua.
