Anguilla's Chief Minister, the honourable Osbourne
Fleming along with counterparts from several
British
Caribbean Overseas Territories are meeting in the
Cayman Islands to consolidate ideas and agree on common
positions to take to discussions with officials from the
Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London at the Overseas
Territories Consultative Council (OTCC) to held be later
this year. This pre-OTCC meeting is held
annually by leaders from the UK Caribbean Overseas
Territories. Chief Minister Fleming is expected to address
the meeting at which delegates will discuss issues including
the influx of labour into the territories as well as term
limits on work permits. The leaders will also be discussing
security forces for the COT’s; the crime situation in the
COT’s; project proposals between regional overseas
territories and countries and the European Union; bilateral
relationships with independent countries including the
United States, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Panama;
healthcare linkages for the COT’s and the appointment of
local Deputy Governors. |
